#SaveOnaqui

In January, AWHC videographer Michael Alfuso and I flew out to Salt Lake City to spend a few very cold days on the Onaqui range with the wild horses who call this area home. Traveling to the high desert in the winter is challenging to say the least. But we made it in and out each day(no camping in the winter) with just a few close call moments in ice, slush and ice again conditions.

All in an effort to help launch the #SaveOnaqui Campaign. Along with the thousands of supporters the campaign and this herd has, a compromise was made on the number of horses to be round up. While we wish to see no horses removed, AWHC was able to sit down with the BLM Utah offices and get the numbers down from over 400 to just 200 horses, mostly on the outskirts of the main herds and in the mountain areas surrounding.

It takes a village and this is one I'm proud to be a part of.
